This mix can accompany the 2 Hour Wedding Cocktail Mix that I did previously, so no songs from the cocktail mix are included in this dinner mix. You can use both mixes back-to-back without having to worry about repeats.
This mix starts at 80 BPM and climbs up to 128 BPM over the course of 2 hours so that the energy constantly increases as the mix goes on, helping build momentum toward dance time.
Even though the vibe is romantic, it’s definitely not sleepy. I made sure to balance romance with fun, along with the right amount of familiarity.
There are songs from every decade from the ’60s until now, so every age range will be catered to.
Even though a lot of couples are cool with explicit music on the dance floor these days, dinner should still be classy, so this mix is completely clean.
Just like the cocktail mix, every transition was meticulously handcrafted in Ableton to make this mix sound as smooth and seamless as possible. You don’t have to worry about any awkward gaps of silence between songs or sloppy-sounding fades. I promise you that these are the smoothest transitions you’ll ever hear with these types of songs.
Artists who are not included in this mix:
I also made sure to avoid songs with sad, depressing, or questionable themes. There are no breakup songs, heartbreak songs, or songs that reference heartache, a cold heart, or anything that could bring down the mood.
And just to be super careful, there are no songs that are named after girls. I avoided songs like “Valerie,” “Meet Virginia,” “Amber,” “Rosanna,” “Jack & Diane,” “Maria,” etc. I’ve never had it happen to me, but if the groom had a crazy-ass ex with the same name as a song that the DJ plays, it could make things awkward. Even though it’s far-fetched, this mix will never put you in that situation.
And yes, I’ve avoided songs with guys’ names as well because that situation can go either way.
Note: If your couple wants to hear any of the artists or songs that this mix avoids, you can play them during dance time, and you won’t have to worry about them being a repeat.
As always, I’m giving you over 2 hours of material to ensure you have more than enough coverage for dinner time.
